The OFFICIAL Birthday!!!

Alaina's birthday present from Mommy, Daddy and Alyssa. Alyssa was just as excited to play with as Alaina was. Alaina was tolerant for a minute or 2, but then Lyss started working her nerves a bit... LOL

CHEESE!! Her birthday hair! 2 pony tails for a 2 year old!

She's annoyed with all the pictures already...

She was sooo excited for her cake and didn't quite understand the flames on the cake. When she/we blew them out she flinched from the smoke-- it scared the crap out of her!! :)

6/10/10-- 2 year check up!

Alaina is in the 50th percentile for weight at 26 lbs, and in the 90th percentile for height at 35". She's tall!!! :) Just like her Daddy!!

Alaina was calm and cool through her entire appt., and didn't even flinch when she got a double whammy shot in each leg.

She let the doctor listen to her heart and her stomach, opened her mouth to let the doc look at her teeth, tongue and throat... let her look in her ears and other areas.. :) She was smiley and cute-- NO TALKING though!! Doctor said she was very mature for her age. It was a great appt.

Alyssa had her 9 month Doctor appt. on 6/4/10. She is in the 50th percentile for height and weight. She is 27" and weighs just over 18 lbs. She also was very cooperative...cute and smiley...babbled a lot. She got a shot and didn't even flinch..no crying, screaming, or flailing.

Both girls had excellent appts and are happy, healthy, beautiful girls!

They love each other so much! Alyssa can't do anything if Alaina is around because she cannot miss one minute of what Alaina is doing. And Alaina is sooo happy to see "babyyyyyy!" She gets in her face and makes high pitched squeals, hugs her, burps her, wipes her face with her bib, and brings her toys to play with while she's sitting on the floor. They light up when they see each other-- it touches a mother's heart! :)

Ok, so I was a bad, bad, very bad Mommy... I forgot to take pictures of my babies in their Christmas dresses. Sooo-- I had the girls put them on again today and told them we are getting a picture and we aren't changing our clothes until we get it!!! Alaina had other plans.... and Alyssa went poop half way thru the fight..I mean thru the photo shoot-- so she got a wardrobe change... OI...anyway, this is as good as we got:

OOPS!! She fell face first into the snow pile. I think it was done on purpose, and she didn't seem to mind so much!

Helping Daddy get rid of that nasty snow! Too bad she was just batting it back to the already shoveled area. But look how hard she is working!!

This is the first several minutes of being outside. She sat down in one spot and stayed absolutely still for what seemed like forever. I guess she had to figure out what was going on first...

This was not LuLu's first experience with snow, but it is the first time she actually got to play in it independently. She woud NOT leave on her mittens and wanted to play with the snow with her bare hands. Her poor little hands were beat red and she kept crying every time she grabbed the snow. Poor kid-- I bet her hands hurt soo bad. We ended up bringing her inside before she was ready because her hands were seriously an unnatural red color. She had a major melt down, and wanted to stay out in the snow. She kept looking out the window saying "nooooo"... meaning "snow." So now- "no" and ''snow" are the same thing. Awesome!

Do I see a smile?? She loves her bouncy seat-- although, it's not a sure "shusher!" When she's in the mood she stares at the elephants and the lion, and I swear she is reaching for them at almost 7 weeks old. ha ha :) Also, she is enjoying being a Philly Phanatic at this time...she thoroughly enjoyed Rollins' walk off last night, and slept well until 3am. We had chicken and roasted potatoes tonight, but Alaina kept shaking her head "no" and saying "uh uh." She was pretty persistent, so I ended up making her spaghetti-o's...which she devoured!!! For dessert she enjoyed a piece of cake... the icing landed on the tray and she didn't taste it. I tried to feed it to her and she refused... "uh uh!" But then, she ran her finger through it, looked at it for a few minutes-- slowly put it on her tongue... a second later I thought she might swallow her finger! She loved it..hmmm, who knew? :) So much for "uh uh!"

~Alaina~

Princess Alaina is now 16 mos old (well, on 10/9) and is such a big girl! She is starting to tell us when she goes poop- so potty training may begin in the next few months. If you give her the wash cloth she will wipe her face, then wipe her high chair tray. When prompted she will also pick up her toys. Her favorite thing to do is throw her bath toys from the bucket into the water, and then help pick them up at the end of her bath.

She just learned the word "no," and no longer says "nih." This morning when Jamie went to get her up for the day, she was sitting in her crib saying "nooooo! no! nnnnnnnnno!" So cute! Additionally, she says duck, bat, dog, cat, baby (often), hi and bye, ride, school, etc... she points to things she wants, and knows 2 signs ("more" and "eat").

We've become quite the picky eater and it is hard for Mommy to make her meals. She did just start eating peanut butter and LOVES peanut butter crackers!! She also still loves all her vegetables and fruits-- it's just the meals that are getting harder to make for her. Tomorrow for luch she will be getting a nutella and fluff sandwich. She wolfed it down last week, but I bet $20 that she comes home with it tomorrow!!!

Alaina enjoys being Mommy's helper, and is getting cuter by the minute!!

Alaina no longer uses the nebulizer-- that's for babies!! She has an inhaler and helps Daddy push the button.

On 10/3/09 Alyssa turned 1 month old. She has gained over 3 lbs since her birth, 2 of those pounds were gained in the past 2 weeks. Her weight today was 9 lbs 1 oz, and she is 20 3/4 "

This is up a half an inch in the past 2 weeks and 1 1/4" since birth.

Miss Alyssa is still not quite the sleeper...and her prime awake times start at midnight... last night she did sleep 3 full hours between 2 meals, and hopefully in the next few days she'll sleep better (we switched formula and got new meds for reflux).

Alaina and Alyssa are starting to act a little more like sisters. Alaina loves to be helpful and insists on throwing away dirty diapers, or to help carry stuff (burp clothes, blankets, etc..) if we go anywhere. You can see above that she is helping Alyssa drink her bottle, and is teaching her where her nose is. :)

The other day we were riding in the car and Alyssa had a blanket on her. Every time I turned around to check the girls, Alyssa was blanketless- and Alaina was covered. Fortunately, I had 2 blankets and gave Alyssa the spare. Alaina must have been very cold because she kept stealing the spare blanket and covering herself with that one as well!

2 Week Appt./ What to do this weekend?

Alyssa had her 2 week appointment today. It was determined that shse is NOT constipated, but has severe reflux. Apparently they get this from Daddy! :) Anyhow, we are now taking Prevacid and thickening her formula with cereal. Maybe this will help her sleep, and therefore, help MOMMY SLEEP! :) Miss Alyssa weighed in at 7.2 oz today...this is up 15 oz (almost one whole pound) from our appt. last week. She also grew another 1/4 of an inch. So in her 2 weeks of life, Alyssa has gained 1lb 1oz, and grown 3/4 of an inch. whew! Busy girl! She still has a beautiful head of thick dark hair, and really enjoys when I wash it. She also really loves taking a bath...it seems to be very relaxing to her.

For the weekend we are expecting my brother, Matt and his family. But we need something to do to keep Miss Alaina occupied and completely entertained until they get here. Hmmmmmmmmm.... what to do, what to do. If we do nothing, it will be a looooong day of hissy fits and screaming. She's sooo good during the week, but when she is cooped up in the house-- not happy! Alaina goes for her 15 mos appt. on 9/29. I am eager for this appt. as she has been doing SO well!! Developmentally, Alaina is all about trying to say words. Unfortanetly, a lot of words sound the same. Duck, Dad, and Dog are all Da. On the other had, she says Me, Mom--which sounds more like MAM, baby, ball, cat, and whoa whoa whoa! ha ha She sits on your lap, sways back and forth and says "whoa whoa whoa"...it is quite cute.

Alaina knows what the baby is, and is very interested in her. She does try to get her bottle, and bouncy seats...but for the most part she does "nice touch" and then tries to steal her socks. :)

Despite my exhaustion, and missing all the things I used to do with Alaina (get her up every morning, get her ready for school, eat breakfast with her, take her to school, pick her up from school....can't do it now as I am not allowed to lift her for 4 more weeks)... I am loving my 2 little girls. I will admit that I would very much like Alyssa to sleep through the night now, and eager for the next couple months to just be done. :)

Mommy couldn't take pictures of Alyssa during her bath--- she has bit of a floppy head and I didn't have an extra hand to snap pics. But- she did love her bath!! She was crying and crying and crying while preparing for the bath. Then she got into the water-- and oooooohhh! She stopped crying instantly and appeared to LOVE being in the water. She seemed to particularly enjoy having her beautiful head of hair washed.

ALAINA KATE

This is our daughter, Alaina Kate. These pictures were taken on her 1st birthday, June 9, 2009. She is now 13 months old, and growing so fast!! When she was born, she was 6 lbs 15 oz, and 20" long. She was born via emergency c-section due to placental abruption. Apparently, that happens to 1% of all births. She came into this world with drama and she is certainly keeping her diva-ness about her. At first we thought she was just a princess...but she's definitely a diva!!!

At her one year appt., Alaina weighed 22 lbs, and measured 30" long. She is in the 50th to 75th percentile with everything-- such a perfect child.
